Here in Florida it is so hard to find good reds, or just reds in general, ANYWHERE! Well I have my 3 red bucks and no red does, I have a chocolate - Lola - that I am using to see about getting any chocolate based reds out of her. So far the first litter she's thrown by one of my reds is all castor and one blue (she carries dilute), castor is to be expected.  These are actually some nice castors, but I'm looking for reds! I'll give her a break after this litter and try again, could even try a different red buck. We'll see, I'll keep ya'll updated!

Leta's 1st litter for me is due in two days. Feels like a pretty good sized litter she's carrying, can't wait to see what Thursday brings!!! She's starting to nest and thankfully it's FL so weather has not been terrible in either heat or chill. Fire's last litter is 6 1/2 weeks old now, the little girl went home to her new owners on Sunday and the boys I will be keeping to show and then sell one of them.
I'm thinking I'll need to start looking for another red doe. I have Avalon, but I'm thinking I'll use her to start my torte line (by keeping a torte buck from Leta's litter) since she is a lighter red with some lacing and smut. Need a nice bright and  clean red like Flame and his sons so I can keep my reds strong!
Also looking into starting tri-colors! I don't want to buy a tri, I want to work at it and breed a Harlequin X Leta (or another brkn. torte doe she might throw) to go for some tris I have produced - I love the feeling of accomplishment.
So there's my update, next year  will hopefully bring new colors and btt

Well....it's been a while since the last post, but Saber's litter didn't do so well. Of the 5 she had only 2 survived :( . There was a stillborn, a peanut, and then one died at a 1 1/2 weeks old for no apparent reason. After the 3 died we started handraising the 2 remaining babies, figuring the problem could either lie with the climate being hot or Saber not doing her job so well.
The 2 remaining bunnies (both black bucks - Zobi and Disco Ball) are quite the little handsome dudes now! They are soon to be 6 weeks old and have been moved back into the rabbitry where they are loving being around the other rabbits and acting very grown up! Zobi is for sale by the way, he'll be a great little pet or brood buck for anyone interested ;)
Until later!

Has arrived! At least 4 live babies, looks like blacks and a blue or opal. Excited to have such a nice sized litter from her. Hoping they all do well and she takes good care of them.

I would just like some feedback on this idea. I have been thinking about selling rabbit accessories through the website to help get new owners set up with first time bunnies. I could also sell stuff online. Any ideas? Comments? Questions?

The little baby bunnies are doing great, they are starting to eat and drink on their own. Less than one week and we'll start the weaning process. 8 out of out 10 babies have been reserved, I have bred one doe the other day so we will be expecting another litter mid-May.

All of our babies have arrived and they all seem to be healthy babies! We are very excited and pleased with our does, they are being great mothers. I was really surprised about how big Chicka's litter was....7 babies! That's a lot for a little doe like her. She's a great mother though, so that's a big plus.

Our 2011 Spring litters will be arriving soon! All of our mommas we bred seem to be pregnant (from palpating them I am able to feel a litter in each) and they are getting their beds ready for little ones to arrive. Keep checking back for updates!

Two weeks to go and we should have hopefully 3 litters! I've been palpating our does and have been feeling little ones in Fire for sure (plus she starts to burrow when I let her run around in the backyard!) and I'm unsure about the other two.
This is Saber's first litter, if she's pregnant, and she's sure excited if that's the case. She's been nesting with newspaper shreds for a whole week now!

I'll keep you updated as we wait  patiently for some beautiful babies :D

Rabbits are all doing great at the fair! Their big weekend was last Sat. and Sun. Smokey is up for sale there, so go take a look if you are interested in a nice proven opal buck.
I did Showmanship with Fire yesterday and then the skill-a-thon. Waiting on the results for both of those. Fire was a pro though for the showmanship!
